About Marianne Hitz
Currently, as a Solution Focused Coach, Marianne is supporting individuals and families in setting and achieving goals, making important life decisions and coping successfully with critical transitions. As an Organizational/Educational Consultant, Marianne has been, and continues to be involved with numerous special projects, helping private and public schools/organizations to achieve their specific goals. Many of these projects are geared towards improving educational and career opportunities for At-Risk or Learning Disabled students.
Marianne has been an educator for 40+ years. Most recently she was employed with the York Region District School Board as a Principal and Coordinator of Student Services for students with Special Education needs in secondary schools. Marianne has also been a Vice Principal, Special Education teacher/Department Head and a Guidance Counsellor. During her many years in the education system, Marianne worked closely with students and families, counselling them on educational, personal, relationship, family and related issues. She has additional expertise in working with youth and adults who have Learning Disabilities.
Marianne has a wealth of experience in counselling, mediating and developing team-building strategies with staff and students. She is a mentor and a motivator. Marianne always looks for the positive and works with the strengths of individuals to develop powerful and enduring solutions.
Beyond her extensive experience, Marianne has specialized training including a Certificate in Solution Focused Counselling from the University of Toronto. She has an M.Ed. from OISE /University of Toronto, a B.Ed. from York University and a B.Sc(H.Ec.) from the University of Ottawa. She has Specialist qualifications in Special Education and Guidance Counselling and continues to attend courses and workshops as part of her ongoing professional development. Marianne’s qualifications reflect a life long commitment to learning and deepening her knowledge base and enhancing her practice.
Marianne is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers, Ontario School Counsellors Association, Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario and York Region, and Solution Focused Canada.
